El ascenso neotectónico del sistema se refleja directamente en el relieve, mediante la disposición, aproximadamente concéntrica de las superficies de nivelación y los pisos altitudinales, el diseño de la red fluvial, la edad del relieve, la disposición de las escarpas tectónicas que lo limitan y otros indicadores.
