The objective of this work was to determine the best topological arrangement with orientation of the rows in function of the sunrise and sunset that allowed to modify some factors of the phytoclimate (incident radiation and air temperature); as well as the behavior of certain growth varieties with climate adaptation in polyculture and monoculture systems in a tomato-corn association using corn as a natural shade; in addition, that this system allowed to elevate tomato yields out of the optimum period with an efficient use of the land (EIT and IEAT) as an alternative for the agriculture of small productions. The results showed that it is in the spatial arrangement of two rows of corn on both sides of three rows of tomato with the corn planted 30 days before the tomato transplant and the rows oriented north-south, where yield increases were achieved as the same from 21.78 to 23 t. ha-1 in the proposed system and from 15.61 to 18.15 t.ha-1 for the monoculture in the tomato crop outside the optimal period, due to the modifications within the associated system of the incident radiation of 25 to 27% and of the Air temperature from 2.6 to 3.6gC. A methodology was developed for the analysis and interpretation of these results where different statistical-mathematical procedures are integrated taking into account the complexity of these experiments. The mean temperature of the air at which for these conditions under study the yields begin to decline was determined by means of the relation between the average temperature of the air during the vegetative phase and the yield of the tomato monoculture for both sowing periods; as well as, it was possible to determine for the INCA-17 variety both the duration of its phases and biological cycle and the number of effective heat units that it needs to complete each of its phases and biological cycle in each period studied. The system allowed a more efficient use of the surface (EIT) taking into account the real time of occupation of the same (IEAT); as well as an increase in both the profit and the benefit / cost ratio.
