| dc.description.abstract | El Proyecto estuvo dirigido a realizar una Evaluación Ambiental Integral de los principales humedales del país (sitios Ramsar y Guanahacabibes) con el fin de conocer los cambios de estado y tendencias en humedales prioritarios, las causas actuales que están generando dichos cambios en sinergia con el cambio climático, su repercusión en los servicios ambientales, la eficacia de las medidas que se están aplicando y proponer recomendaciones apropiadas para revertir los efectos adversos. Para ello se identificaron y evaluaron las problemáticas ambientales presentes en los diferentes componentes naturales y socioeconómicos, se evaluaron los cambios críticos de estado y sus tendencias, las presiones vinculadas a procesos antrópicos y naturales y la afectación a los servicios ambientales y el bienestar humano. Se desarrolló un sistema de indicadores ambientales y un sistema de monitoreo para evaluar continuamente en términos cuantitativos las presiones, los cambios de estado e impactos, así como un Sistema de Información para facilitar el acceso a los datos. El proyecto permitió establecer una metodología común de trabajo con salidas estandarizadas que permiten realizar estudios comparativos. Asimismo, los resultados alcanzados permiten satisfacer las demandas de información científica de los tomadores de decisiones, la elaboración de estrategias nacionales para garantizar el desarrollo sostenible de estos ecosistemas, así como facilitar la participación de Cuba en la Convención Ramsar. The Project was aimed at carrying out an Integral Environmental Assessment of the main wetlands of the country (Ramsar and Guanahacabibes sites) in order to know the changes of status and trends in priority wetlands, the current causes that are generating these changes in synergy with the change climate, its impact on environmental services, the effectiveness of the measures that are being applied and propose appropriate recommendations to reverse the adverse effects. For this, the environmental problems present in the different natural and socioeconomic components were identified and evaluated, the critical changes of state and their tendencies, the pressures linked to anthropic and natural processes and the affectation to environmental services and human welfare were evaluated. A system of environmental indicators and a monitoring system was developed to continually assess in quantitative terms pressures, changes in status and impacts, as well as an Information System to facilitate access to data. The project allowed to establish a common methodology of work with standardized outputs that allow comparative studies. Likewise, the results achieved allow meeting the demands of scientific information of the decision makers, the elaboration of national strategies to guarantee the sustainable development of these ecosystems, as well as facilitating the participation of Cuba in the Ramsar Convention.
