| dc.description.abstract | El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo mostrar algunas consideraciones sobre el concepto SIG, orígenes y evolución de estas herramientas hasta la actualidad y perspectivas futuras de su desarrollo. Se hace un análisis de las características de la Ciencia de la Información Geográfica en expansión, sus orígenes y, sobre todo, los objetivos científicos que se han planteado para ella hasta el momento y el futuro desarrollo de estas tecnologías. Se concluye reafirmando que los próximos años, constituirán un período crucial para el desarrollo de la Geografía, para lo cual dependerá que esta disciplina se mantenga como una ciencia y herramienta útil e importante para la sociedad, en la nueva era de la sociedad de la información, se evidencia que las Tecnologías de la Información Geográfica (TIG) ofrecen nuevas posibilidades a la investigación, la docencia y la práctica geográfica, y está en nuestras manos aprovecharlas de modo eficiente, dándoles el protagonismo que propician los espacios investigativos. | es_ES |
