Las especies de la familia Cheyletidae (Acari: Trombidiformes) en Cuba

Abstract

Entre los ácaros depredadores se destacan los miembros de la familia Cheyletidae los cuales se alimentan de otros ácaros e insectos. Ellos están ampliamente distribuidos y se hallan en todos los continentes donde ocupan gran diversidad de hábitats. En Cuba, su estudio está ligado a la actividad Veterinaria y la Sanidad Vegetal por tener especies parásitas de animales y plantas y encontrarse en productos almacenados. El propósito de este trabajo es actualizar el conocimiento de esta familia e informar nuevos registros de especies en Cuba para lo cual se consultaron las colecciones acarológicas del Instituto de investigaciones de Sanidad Vegetal (INISAV) y del Laboratorio Central de Cuarentena Vegetal (LCCV). Se informan por primera vez las especies Chiapacheylus edentata De Leon, Cheletomimus (Hemicheyletia) anarbora (De Leon), Cheletomimus (Hemicheyletia) wellsina (De Leon) y Mexecheles hawaiiensis (Baker). También se comenta sobre las especies conocidas halladas en las colecciones examinadas. Se mencionan diferencias por neotrichia en C. edentata y asimetrías en las sedas dorsales de C. wellsina. Se ofrece una clave para la identificación de las especies cubanas. Se propone la lista actualizada de la familia Cheyletidae en Cuba. Among predator mites stand out the members of the Cheyletidae family feed of other mites and insects. They are widely distributed and occur in all continents where they occupy great diversity of habitats. In Cuba their study is related to the veterinary activity and the plant health for having species that live in animals, in plants and stored food. The purpose of this work is to update the knowledge of this family and report new records of species in Cuba for which the acarological collections of Instituto de investigaciones de Sanidad Vegetal (INISAV) and Laboratorio Central de Cuarentena Vegetal (LCCV) were consulted. Chiapacheylus edentate De Leon, Cheletomimus (Hemicheyletia) anarbora (De Leon), Cheletomimus (Hemicheyletia) wellsina (De Leon) and Mexecheles hawaiiensis (Baker) are reported for the first time. About the known species found in the examined collections is also commented. The differences for neotrichia in C. edentata and asymmetries in the setae numbers of C. wellsina is commented too. A key to the Cuban cheyletids is also presented. An updated checklist of this family is provided.
