Abstract

Estos tres autores han llevado a cabo una investigación exhaustiva sobre los registros y las muestras, a menudo rastreando colecciones de payasos para verificar el estado de registros inciertos y para reinterpretar su estado a la luz de las definiciones taxonómicas actuales. El advenimiento de los métodos filogenéticos moleculares en los últimos años ha provocado una avalancha de nueva información sobre "especies crípticas" y la necesidad de ser cautelosos en la aplicación de nombres a menudo basados en tipos europeos. Este volumen, que ahora lleva el total a 530 especies de macroalgas marinas cubanas, es un modelo de atención escrupulosa a los detalles y se considerará como una contribución útil y significativa. These three authors have carried out exhaustive research on the records and the specimens, often tracking clown collections to verify the status of uncertain records and to reinterpret their status in light of present taxonomic definitions. The advent of molecular phylogenetic methods in recent years has brought about a flood of new information on "cryptic species" and the need to be cautious in the application of names often based on European types. This volume, which now brings the total to 530 species of Cuban marine macroalgae, is a model of scrupulous attention to detail and will be regarded as a useful and significant contribution.
