| dc.description.abstract | Esta ponencia tiene como objetivo analizar el crecimiento que se ha dado en la zona urbana del Municipio de Puebla a partir de 1970 al 2006, para poder analizar este crecimiento se hizo una separación de la mancha urbana diferenciando las manchas producidas por asentamientos dispersos dentro del municipio, puesto que estos tienen procesos de crecimiento originados por causas distintas y con velocidades contrastantes. El municipio de Puebla cuenta con una superficie estimada de 561.35 km2, analizando el crecimiento urbano que se da dado ha través del tiempo nos permite establecer los principales parámetros que lo han regido y a su vez nos permite considerar cual puede ser su comportamiento futuro en caso de seguir la dinámica actual. El área urbana del municipio de Puebla se ha incrementado considerablemente durante los últimos 35 años, ya que para el año de 1970 la superficie urbana estimada era de 22.83 Km2, y para el año 2005 se estima en 223.75 Km2, esto nos permite observar un crecimiento de la zona urbana estimada en 200.95 Km2, lo que nos indica un porcentaje de crecimiento para estos 35 años de 980%, o sea que la zona urbana se ha incrementado casi diez veces la superficie que tenia hace 35 años, esto representa un problema muy importante que hay que tener en cuenta para los próximos años, ya que de continuar con este ritmo de crecimiento en pocos años no habrá suelo apto para el crecimiento urbano en el municipio de Puebla, continuándose el proceso de metropolización con los municipios circundantes.
