Caracterización y usos del biogel del Balneario San Diego de los Baños, Cuba

Abstract

Se exponen los resultados obtenidos del análisis químico y biológico del biogel obtenido en las aguas de la piscina El Templado del Balneario San Diego de los Baños, Cuba. La cianobacteria Leptothrix subtilissima Kütz es la cianobacteria productora de este biogel, con un 87% de azufre elemental y evidencias de polisacáridos, magnesio, calcio y proteínas. Sin presencia de irritabilidad dérmica ni oftalmica, ni toxicidad aguda. Se describe el proceso de secado al cual fue sometido el material. El polvo fue utilizado en la elaboración de un jabón de tocador, en la producción de una crema y aceite de masajes de los cuales se ofrecen los beneficios terapéuticos y cosmetológicos, así como de los usos potenciales de esta cianobacteria en biomedicina, como biofertilizante en la agricultura y en el propio balneario dadas sus propiedades biológicamente activas. The results obtained from the chemical and biological analysis of the biogel obtained in the waters of the El Templado swimming pool of the San Diego de los Baños Spa, Cuba, are presented. The cyanobacterium Leptothrix subtilissima Kütz is the cyanobacterium that produces this biogel, with 87% elemental sulfur and evidence of polysaccharides, magnesium, calcium and proteins. No presence of dermal or ophthalmic irritability, or acute toxicity. The drying process to which the material was subjected is described. The powder was used in the elaboration of a toilet soap, in the production of a cream and massage oil, of which the therapeutic and cosmetological benefits are offered, as well as the potential uses of this cyanobacterium in biomedicine, as a biofertilizer in the agriculture and in the spa itself given its biologically active properties.(traducción automática)
