Phyllanthus urinaria (Phyllanthaceae), primer registro de una especie exótica naturalizada en Cuba

Abstract

Phyllanthus urinaria L. es una planta herbácea anual ampliamente distribuida en los trópicos que pertenece a la sección Phyllanthus Urinaria G.L. Webster (ca. cuatro especies) en el subgénero Phyllanthus (Webster 1957, Rossignol & al., 1987). La especie de esta sección asiática ha sido introducida y naturalizada en México, América Central, el Caribe, América del Sur, África tropical y Australia (Rossignol & al., 1987). Debido a su diferente estructura de inflorescencia y semilla, la sección Urinaria está aislada dentro del subgénero Phyllanthus (Webster 1957). El estudio detallado de Rossignol & al. (1987), concluyeron que la especie linneana Phyllanthus urinaria es un complejo poliploide y propusieron varias especies segregadas según la morfología de la semilla y el nivel de ploidía.
