| dc.description.abstract | El presente proyecto consintió en preservar y conservar eficazmente el área de la Reserva San Rafael con particular atención a la biodiversidad. El alcance del estudio abarco el área de influencia de la Reserva un total aproximado de 70.000 has. Los procedimientos básicos realizados fueron constantes monitoreos terrestres y sobrevuelos, además de seguimiento a delitos detectados y su comunicado a las autoridades competentes, como también el entrenamiento a pobladores locales en prevención y combate de incendios forestales. Los métodos utilizados fueron: registros de ocurrencia de incendios, informes de monitoreos terrestres, sobrevuelos y seguimiento a delitos detectados. Luego de 2 años de trabajos podemos indicar que se han perfeccionado las capacidades y conocimientos de los monitores forestales y bomberos voluntarios. Se ha reforzado la protección del área, monitoreando metódicamente el estado de flora y fauna, detectando potenciales brotes de fuego y/u otros daños o amenazas. Hasta término del proyecto: 5% de reducción en delitos ambientales detectados, y cero casos de incendios inducidos. Realización promedio de 7 monitoreos terrestres y hasta 8 sobrevuelos por mes, fomentando la preservación de la biodiversidad. Podemos concluir que a la falta de interés en la conservación de San Rafael por parte del Gobierno paraguayo ha llevado que organizaciones privadas como Pro Cosara tome el control de la protección del área con monitoreos y observaciones de la biodiversidad, detectando potenciales brotes de fuego y/u otros daños o amenazas logrando así la conservación de la cordillera cuya importancia radica por ser el último fragmento de mayor tamaño del Bosque Atlántico del Alto Paraná que queda en Paraguay.
