IctIofauna marIno-costera regIstrada en el archIpIélago sabana-camagüey, cuba: un InventarIo actualIzado

Abstract

Se presenta un inventario sistemático actualizado de los peces identificados para las aguas marino-costeras del archipiélago SabanaCamagüey. El material científico publicado e informes técnicos especializados con listas de la ictiofauna en los últimos 26 años, han sido analizados minuciosamente para compilar y actualizar en documento único, la biodiversidad íctica en una amplia región de la plataforma cubana. Un total de 399 especies identificadas, con las familias Serranidae, Carangidae, Haemulidae, Labridae, Gobiidae, Lutjanidae, Pomacentridae y Scaridae destacando en diversidad, reflejan el enorme potencial biológico de este gran ecosistema. Las condiciones de los hábitats que sustentan esta diversidad se han deteriorado en las últimas décadas. Las 33 especies amenazadas según la Unión Internacional para la Conservación de la Naturaleza, indican el reto que representa la conservación del mismo ante las proyecciones de desarrollo turístico y las malas prácticas de pesca. An updated systematic inventory of the fishes identified for the marine-coastal waters of the Sabana-Camagüey archipelago is presented. The published scientific material and specialized technical reports with lists of the fishes in the last 26 years, has been analyzed in detail to compile and update in a single document, the fish biodiversity in a vast region of the Cuban shelf. A total of 399 identified species reflect the enormous biological potential of this great ecosystem. The 33 species threatened according to categories of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, indicate the challenge that represents the conservation of the same while the tourism develops and the bad fishing practices in the area.
