Diagnóstico turístico de la parroquia Aníbal San Andrés del cantón Montecristi

Abstract

La parroquia Aníbal San Andrés, ubicada en la provincia de Manabí, presenta desafíos significativos en la valorización de sus atractivos turísticos culturales y naturales, como las Fiestas de la Virgen de Monserrat, el Cerro Milenario de Montecristi y la artesanía del sombrero de paja toquilla. El objetivo de este estudio es realizar un diagnóstico turístico integral que sirva como base para futuras acciones de planificación turística sostenible, identificando las potencialidades y limitaciones en la oferta turística, considerando el patrimonio cultural y natural, así como los factores socioeconómicos de la zona. La metodología utilizada incluye la recolección de datos sobre la ubicación, características y contexto cultural de cada atractivo, además de entrevistas con habitantes y expertos en turismo. Los Resultados muestran que la parroquia cuenta con un rico patrimonio que puede atraer turistas, contribuyendo al desarrollo local. Las Fiestas de la Virgen de Monserrat resaltan la identidad cultural y la cohesión social, mientras que el Cerro Milenario ofrece oportunidades para el ecoturismo y el disfrute de la biodiversidad. Asimismo, el sombrero de paja toquilla, declarado Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de la Humanidad por la UNESCO, es una tradición artesanal valiosa que puede ser un motor económico. Sin embargo, es crucial implementar estrategias de gestión que promuevan la sostenibilidad de estos recursos y la participación activa de la comunidad, garantizando la conservación del patrimonio y el desarrollo socioeconómico de la parroquia. The parish of Aníbal San Andrés, located in the province of Manabí, faces significant challenges in promoting its cultural and natural tourist attractions, such as the Festival of the Virgin of Monserrat, the Millennial Hill of Montecristi, and the toquilla straw hat craft. The objective of this study is to conduct a comprehensive tourism assessment to serve as a basis for future sustainable tourism planning, identifying the potential and limitations of the tourism offerings, considering the cultural and natural heritage, as well as the socioeconomic factors of the area. The methodology used includes data collection on the location, characteristics, and cultural context of each attraction, in addition to interviews with residents and tourism experts. The results show that the parish has a rich heritage that can attract tourists, contributing to local development. The Festival of the Virgin of Monserrat highlights cultural identity and social cohesion, while the Millennial Hill offers opportunities for ecotourism and the enjoyment of biodiversity. Likewise, the toquilla straw hat, declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, is a valuable artisanal tradition that can be an economic driver. However, it is crucial to implement management strategies that promote the sustainability of these resources and the active participation of the community, guaranteeing the conservation of the heritage and the socioeconomic development of the parish.
