Reporte de blanqueamiento de corales del año 2010 en Cuba

Abstract

El año 2010 puede considerarse de gran intensidad y extensión geográfica del blanqueamiento, junto con 1995, 1998, 2005 y 2009. No hubo un solo reporte indicando ausencia de blanqueamiento. De reportó blanqueamiento casi total (75-100%) en dos puntos de la mitad oriental del Archipiélago Sabana-Camagüey y en dos del extremo sudeste de Cuba (provincias de Santiago de Cuba y Granma). Los voluntarios de Granma (Base Náutica de Marea del Portillo) opinan que el masivo blanqueamiento observado en junio en esa provincia fue causado por la fumigación de campos de cebolla y otros cultivos. Esto es probable ya que en junio las temperaturas del mar no eran tan altas como para causar blanqueamiento. Of reported bleaching almost total (75-100%) in two points of the half East of the archipelago Sabana-Camagüey and in two of the end Southeast of Cuba (provinces of Santiago of Cuba and Granma). Them volunteers of Granma (Base nautical of tide of the Portillo) say that the massive bleaching observed in June in that province was caused by the spraying of fields of onion and others crops. This is likely because in June the temperatures of the sea not were so high as to cause bleaching.
