Corbicula manilensis (Mollusca: Bivalvia: Corbiculidae) en Cuba.

Abstract

Durante el trabajo de campo -en 1987- en la presa Alacranes y en el tercio medio del río Sagua la Grande, Villa Clara, el segundo autor (AQ) y Noel Chirino, hallaron múltiples concentraciones del molusco Corbicula manilensis Philippi, de hábitos dulceacuícolas. Esta especie es oriunda de los cuerpos de agua dulce de Asia tropical. Tanto el género como la especie constituyen nuevos registros para la fauna malacológica de Cuba. During fieldwork, in 1987, in Alacranes dam and in the niddle third of Sagua la Grande river, Villa Clara, the second author (AQ) and Noel Chirino found multiple concentrations of mollusk Corbicula manilensis Philippi, of freshwater habits. This species is native to the freshwater bodies of tropical Asia. Both the genus and the species constitute new records for the malacological fauna of Cuba.
