Cultivares cubanos de arroz

A partir de la decisión del Comandante en Jefe en 1967 de fomentar el Plan Nacional de Desarrollo Arrocero, se identifica la necesidad de contar con un Programa de Mejoramiento Genético del cultivo del arroz, para mitigar el impacto de factores bióticos y abióticos y mejorar las características agronómicas de las variedades comerciales, ya que la producción arrocera de la década del 50 heredaba un genofondo limitado, con cultivares susceptibles a plagas y rendimientos potenciales bajos. Esta obra presenta las características técnicas de cultivares cubanos de arroz, tanto de ciclo corto como de ciclo largo. Se incluyen los siguientes cultivares: INCA LP-2, INCA LP-4, INCA LP-5, INCA LP-7, Anays LP-14, Roana LP-15, GINES LP-18 y Guillemar LP- 19. Following the decision of the Commander in Chief in 1967 to promote the National Rice Development Plan, the need to have a Genetic Improvement Program for rice cultivation was identified to mitigate the impact of biotic and abiotic factors and improve the characteristics agronomic of the commercial varieties, since the rice production of the 50s inherited a limited genetic background, with cultivars susceptible to pests and low potential yields. This work presents the technical characteristics of Cuban rice cultivars, both short cycle and long cycle. The following cultivars are included: INCA LP-2, INCA LP-4, INCA LP-5, INCA LP-7, Anays LP-14, Roana LP-15, GINES LP-18 and Guillemar LP-19.
