| dc.description.abstract | En el siguiente trabajo se profundiza en la asociación de la ocurrencia de meses catalogados como extremadamente secos y extremadamente lluviosos en Cuba durante la primera fase del período lluvioso (mayo-junio), con la posición geográfica de la LDZ a distintos niveles troposféricos, la cual no reveló la existencia de atipicidades significativas. Sin embargo, la línea de discontinuidad meridional (LDM) mostró que durante estos meses con características extremas respecto a la lluvia, si bien en los niveles troposféricos bajos a medios predominaron flujos del sudeste, en los niveles superiores, particularmente alrededor de los 300 y 400 hPa predominaron flujos del suroeste en los casos húmedos y flujos del noroeste en los casos secos, asociados éstos últimos a una acentuada influencia del anticiclón mexicano sobre el área.
