Empleo de nuevas tecnologías en los fondos de publicaciones seriadas norteamericanas (siglos XIX, XX y XXI) de la Biblioteca Juan Tomás Roig del INIFAT

Abstract

La antigua Estación Experimental Agronómica de Santiago de las Vegas, primera institución de su tipo en Cuba e Hispanoamérica contó en sus inicios con un personal científico casi totalmente integrado por investigadores norteamericanos, es por esto que, desde su fundación en forma natural y espontánea, se estableció el intercambio de publicaciones entre la biblioteca de la Estación y universidades norteamericanas. Se estableció una red de intercambio, muy amplia para la época, entre ambos países, favorecido por el flujo de información de otros investigadores de la Estación y colegas en otros países. El fondo formado por estas publicaciones, a pesar de las condiciones desfavorables para su almacenamiento ha desafiado el tiempo y se conserva en su mayor parte. The former Agronomic Experimental Station of Santiago de las Vegas, the first institution of its kind in Cuba and Latin America, had in the beginning a scientific staff almost totally integrated by North American researchers, that is why, since its foundation in a natural and spontaneous way, established the exchange of publications between the library of the Station and American universities. An exchange network was established, very wide for the time, between both countries, favored by the flow of information from other researchers of the Station and colleagues in other countries.
