Carlos Eduardo González del Valle y González: creador del Programa de Maíz Cubano.

Abstract

Con este trabajo se pretende dar a conocer la fructífera obra científica del destacado genetista cubano Carlos Eduardo González del Valle y González quien fuera fundador del Departamento de Genética de la Estación Experimental Agronómica alcanzando, durante los 33 años de trabajo en la misma, resultados que marcaron la historia de la genética no sólo en Cuba sino en América, ya que sus experiencias en el cultivo del maíz sentaron pautas para las futuras variedades resistentes y adaptadas a nuestro clima y que aún se comercializan. Quisiera dedicar esta obra a los genetistas del INIFAT en el marco de las celebraciones del 100 aniversario de la institución. Que sirva esta a futuros estudios de los ilustres hombres de ciencia, que fueron iniciadores de las investigaciones en la rama agrícola en Cuba. This work aims to publicize the fruitful scientific work of the prominent Cuban geneticist Carlos Eduardo Gonzalez del Valle and Gonzalez who was the founder of the Department of Genetics of the Agronomic Experimental Station, reaching, during the 33 years of work in it, results that marked the history of genetics not only in Cuba but in America, since their experiences in the cultivation of maize set guidelines for future resistant varieties adapted to our climate and that are still marketed. I would like to dedicate this work to the geneticists of the INIFAT within the framework of the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the institution.
