Cambios en la cobertura y el uso de la tierra: direcciones geográficas de investigación en el escenario regional del Caribe y Cuba

Abstract

La presente investigación que tiene como hilo conductor el antecedente del trabajo: "La población mundial y los medios de subsistencia: una nueva encrucijada a propósito de los cambios globales medioambientales”(de la Colina, 1997), continúa planteándose el estudio de la influencia recíproca entre los Cambios Globales - Cambios en el Uso de la Tierra - Intensificación Agrícola y Seguridad Alimentaria y consiste en una investigación referativa que tomando como sustento inicial los fundamentos teórico metodológicos del Grupo de Trabajo sobre Cambios en el Uso de la Tierra y la Cobertura Terrestre del IGBP-HDP expone de manera sintética, para el escenario regional del Caribe y Cuba, las principales acciones de investigación que fomenta y desarrolla el Instituto de Geografía Tropical en el marco del proyecto de investigación: “Modelos Geográficos de la Interacción Naturaleza y Sociedad como Premisas Alternativas para el Desarrollo Sostenible del Caribe Insular y Cuba en el Contexto de los Cambios Globales Medioambientales” del Programa Nacional Científico Técnico (PNCT): “Los Cambios Globales y la Evolución del Medio Ambiente en Cuba” del Ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnología y Medio Ambiente (CITMA). The present investigation that has as its guiding thread the antecedent of the work: “The world population and the means of subsistence: a new crossroads regarding global environmental changes” (de la Colina, 1997), continues to consider the study of reciprocal influence Among Global Changes - Changes in Land Use - Agricultural Intensification and Food Security and consists of a referential research that taking as its initial support the theoretical methodological foundations of the Working Group on Changes in Land Use and Land Cover of the IGBP-HDP summarizes, for the regional scenario of the Caribbean and Cuba, the main research actions promoted and developed by the Institute of Tropical Geography in the framework of the research project: "Geographical Models of the Interaction Nature and Society as Premises Alternatives for the Sustainable Development of the Insular Caribbean and Cuba in the Context of the s Global Environmental Changes ”of the National Scientific Technical Program (PNCT):“ Global Changes and Evolution of the Environment in Cuba ”of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA).
