Balance anual del Instituto de Ecología y Sistemática (Resumen) 2007

Abstract

Durante el presente año 2007 en el Instituto de Ecología y Sistemática se logró una mayor integración y correspondencia de los programas, proyectos y servicios científicos con las prioridades del país garantizando la introducción de los resultados científicos con un mayor impacto en la economía, la sociedad y el medio ambiente. Se desarrollaron proyectos y actividades de colaboración con instituciones y organizaciones internacionales para potenciar y complementar las capacidades existentes y movilizar recursos financieros. Se obtuvieron resultados de impacto científico para Cuba y para ecosistemas boscosos del Neotrópico. Para nuestro país es primera vez que se realiza un estudio a nivel de comunidad sobre dormancia y germinación. Estos resultados contribuyen directamente al conocimiento de los patrones de regeneración de dichas especies y de los posibles mecanismos de coexistencia en bosques tropicales. En cuanto al impacto ambiental se propició el uso sostenible y el mejor aprovechamiento de la biodiversidad de los bosques siempre verdes y la aplicación de tratamientos pregerminativos que favorecen la regeneración de especies arbóreas. Se realizó con éxito el Forum de Ciencia y Técnica. Se inició la aplicación del MicoFert® en la agricultura de Boyeros en varias Cooperativas y Servicios a través de la ANAP Municipal. During the current year 2007, the Institute of Ecology and Systematics achieved greater integration and correspondence of scientific programs, projects and services with the country's priorities, guaranteeing the introduction of scientific results with a greater impact on the economy, society and environment. Collaborative projects and activities were developed with international institutions and organizations to enhance and complement existing capacities and mobilize financial resources. Results of scientific impact were obtained for Cuba and for forest ecosystems of the Neotropics. For our country, it is the first time that a community-level study on dormancy and germination has been carried out. These results contribute directly to the knowledge of the regeneration patterns of these species and the possible mechanisms of coexistence in tropical forests. Regarding the environmental impact, the sustainable use and the best use of the biodiversity of the evergreen forests and the application of pre-germination treatments that favor the regeneration of tree species were promoted. The Science and Technology Forum was successfully held. The application of MicoFert® in Boyeros agriculture began in several Cooperatives and Services through the Municipal ANAP.
