| dc.description.abstract | La familia Culicidae está representada tres subfamilias: Anophelinae, Culicinae y Toxorhynchirinae. Desde comienzos de este siglo los mosquitos han sido objeto de numerosos estudios en Cuba. El número total de especies ha variado según los diferentes investigadores. Este trabajo presenta una lista actualizada de los mosquitos que viven en Cuba. Se resgistraron 68 especies de culícidos: la subfamilia Anophelinae con 6 especies, Culicinae con 59 y Toxorhynchirinae con 3. Del total de especies cuatros son endémicas de Cuba: Psorophora n. sp., Culex n. sp, Culex nicüroensis Duret, 1967 y Uranotaenia oteizae Pérez Vigueras, 1956. La identidad de las especies Aedes condolescens Dyar y Knab, 1907, Culex inflictus Theobald, 1901, Trichoprosopon longipes Fabr., 1805 y Wyeomyia bahama Dyar y Knab, 1906, citadas por algunos autores, pudiera considerarse dudosa pues no han sido colectadas en las últimas cuatro décadas. The Culicidae family is represented by three subfamilies: Anophelinae, Culicinae and Toxorhynchirinae. Since the beginning of this century mosquitoes have been the subject of numerous studies in Cuba. The total number of species has varied according to different investigators. This paper presents an updated mosquitoes living in Cuba list. They registered 68 species of mosquitoes: the Anophelinae subfamily with 6 species, Culicinae with 59 and Toxorhynchirinae with 3.
