Adiciones a la dipterofauna (Agromyzidae) de Cuba.

Abstract

Existe muy poca información actualizada sobre la taxonomía y zoogeografía de los dípteros de la mayor de las Antillas. Esta situación crea un gran vacío en el conocimiento de la dipterofauna americana y en especial de la subregión antillana, lo que dificulta en gran medida las interpretaciones sobre el origen y afinidades filogenéticas de las especies del orden. La familia Agromyzidae es uno de los grupos con un nivel inadecuado de conocimiento, a pesar del gran interés económico que se le atribuye a muchos de sus representantes como plagas de la agricultura. Hasta 1992 la familia incluía 26 especies en Cuba, repartidas en 10 géneros. La información que se ofrece aquí, relaciona dos registros nuevos de géneros: Haplopeodes Steyskal 1980 y Geratomyza Spencer 1973, y 14 especies, que constituyen el resultado de la labor de varios años de recolectas de insectos, fundamentalmente en la parte oriental de Cuba. Las identificaciones taxonómicas se basaron en el estudio de los genitales de los machos y en datos sobre la biología de las especies. El material utilizado en la elaboración de estas notas está depositado en las colecciones entomológicas del Centro Oriental de Ecosistemas y Biodiversidad. There is very little up-to-date information on the taxonomy and zoogeography of the Diptera of the Greater Antilles. This situation creates a great vacuum in the knowledge of the fauna of American dipterans and especially of the Antillean subregion, which greatly hinders interpretations on the origin and phylogenetic affinities of the species of order. The Agromyzidae family is one of the groups with an inadequate level of knowledge, despite the great economic interest attributed to many of its representatives as pests of agriculture. Until 1992 the family included 26 species in Cuba, distributed in 10 genera. The information given here relates two new genus records: Haplopeodes Steyskal 1980 and Geratomyza Spencer 1973, and 14 species, which are the result of the work of several years of insect collection, mainly in the eastern part of Cuba. The taxonomic identifications were based on the study of the genitals of the males and on data on the biology of the species. The material used in the preparation of these notes is deposited in the entomological collections of the Eastern Center of Ecosystems and Biodiversity.
