Propuesta de ordenamiento ambiental de la franja costera de Santa Lucía, Camagüey.

Abstract

Santa Lucía es el principal polo turístico de la provincia de Camagüey. Sus recursos naturales actualmente se explotan en función de dos actividades económicas: la turística y la extractiva (producción de sal). Entre los principales problemas ambientales del territorio se encuentran: la deforestación, modificación y transformación del perfil de playa, conflicto en el uso del espacio entre diferentes actividades económicas, pesca y caza furtiva, degradación del paisaje, inadecuados métodos de limpieza de la playa, variaciones en régimen de escurrimiento superficial e infiltración de toda la zona costera e insuficiente cultura ambiental, así como la poca relación entre el uso del espacio geográfico y el aprovechamiento del potencial natural. Como consecuencia, se observa actualmente una importante fragmentación del paisaje y un acelerado proceso de deterioro ambiental. El presente trabajo constituye una propuesta de ordenamiento ambiental sobre la base de la concepción del funcionamiento de los sistemas naturales y ha constituido el fundamento del programa de gestión ambiental que se desarrolla en el territorio. Santa Lucia is the main tourist pole of the province of Camagüey. Its natural resources are currently exploited based on two economic activities: tourism and extractive (salt production). Among the main environmental problems of the territory are: deforestation, modification and transformation of the beach profile, conflict in the use of space between different economic activities, fishing and poaching, degradation of the landscape, inadequate methods of cleaning the beach, variations in a regime of superficial runoff and infiltration of the entire coastal zone and insufficient environmental culture, as well as the little relationship between the use of geographical space and the use of natural potential. As a consequence, there is currently an important fragmentation of the landscape and an accelerated process of environmental deterioration. The present work constitutes a proposal of environmental order based on the conception of the functioning of the natural systems and has constituted the foundation of the program of environmental management that is developed in the territory.
