Abstract

Este proceso, como otros de rápida ejecución, trae consigo impactos de diversa índole, que en la mayoría de las ocasiones se van acumulando y en conjunto llegan a ser de notable significado, contribuyendo a deteriorar la imagen de cualquier producto. De ello se deriva la necesaria urgencia de lograr un ordenamiento ambiental en este territorio, para lo cual es imprescindible poder contar con una caracterización de toda el área, a partir del establecimiento, en tiempo y espacio, de las condiciones imperantes hasta el memento. Desde la inauguración del Centro de investigaciones de Ecosistemas Costeros la recogida de información y el análisis de componentes naturales ha si de una actividad constante, la cual se ha visto reforzada con las investigaciones que a partir de los finales de los noventa se han realizado como parte del proyecto GEF/PNUD "Acciones prioritarias para consolidar la protección de la Biodiversidad en el Ecosistema Sabana-Camaguey", a través del cual en 1999 se hicieron estudios general es de localización y planificación de productos eco turísticos, dejando un amplio margen de detalles sin examinarse respecto al accionar humano.
