Eduardo Sotolongo Dubrocá y el arte de la Fotografía al servicio de las ciencias agrícolas

Abstract

El presente trabajo es un sencillo y sentido homenaje a los hombres y mujeres que trabajaron a lo largo de estos 100 años en la otrora Estación Experimental Agronómica de Santiago de las Vegas, a los científicos que calladamente hicieron grandes aportes al desarrollo agrícola del país y especialmente a Eduardo Sotolongo Dubrocá, el primer fotógrafo oficial de nuestra Estación al que debemos las fotografías más antiguas que hoy conservamos. Como dato curioso y a la vez muy significativo debemos señalar que el trabajo de fotografía en los 100 años de existencia del Instituto ha estado centralizado fundamentalmente en tres fotógrafos: Eduardo Sotolongo Dubrocá, Eligio Torres Illeras y Lincoln González Hernández. Sotolongo Dubrocá trabajó durante 45 años en la EEA, Eligio Torres durante 35 años y Lincoln González también trabaja desde hace 35 años y se mantiene dando su aporte en la actualidad.
