Contribución de los estudios del relieve al desarrollo sostenible en Cuba

Abstract

La problemática del medio ambiente y el logro de un desarrollo sostenible, constituyen temas de constante y necesaria vigencia. El relieve en particular, ha sido uno de los elementos naturales más subestimados, en cuanto al papel que desempeña dentro de las complejas interrelaciones medioambientales, pese a que en él se sustenta toda actividad terrestre y a que puede ser modificado de forma acelerada y a gran escala. Los daños ecológicos y económicos producto de la ocurrencia de procesos geomórficos exógenos, hoy se reconocen entre los más graves y extendidos globalmente, sin embargo, aun no son suficientes ni los estudios, ni las acciones tendentes a evitar, mitigar o a erradicar tales procesos. El presente trabajo se propone interconectar experiencias y conocimientos para mostrar un proceder metodológico avalado por la práctica, que permite, mediante un enfoque sistémico, el conocimiento científico del relieve en su dimensión medioambiental y precisar las acciones que correspondan en cada caso, para la protección del relieve, el ordenamiento ambiental y el logro de un desarrollo sostenible. The relief in particular has been one of the most underestimated natural elements, in terms of the role it plays within the complex environmental interrelations, although it supports all terrestrial activity and can be modified in an accelerated and large scale. The ecological and economic damages resulting from the occurrence of exogenous geomorphic processes are now recognized among the most serious and globally widespread, however, neither studies nor actions to avoid, mitigate or eradicate such processes are sufficient. The present work intends to interconnect experiences and knowledge to show a methodological procedure endorsed by the practice, which allows, through a systemic approach, the scientific knowledge of the relief in its environmental dimension and specify the actions that correspond in each case, for the protection of the relief, environmental management and the achievement of sustainable development.
