Características socio-económicas del territorio de la Reserva de la Biosfera Ciénaga de Zapata.

Abstract

En el presente trabajo se hace una breve descripción de la vida del cenaguero antes y durante los primeros años de la revolución, que sirve de antecedente al tema central del trabajo, dirigido a la comprensión y valoración del comportamiento de algunos indicadores socioeconómicos actuales, que permitan conocer la problemática social en la Reserva de la Biosfera Ciénaga de Zapata para incorporar soluciones en el Plan de Manejo de ésta área protegida. Los numerosos esfuerzos por desarrollar y orientar social y económicamente el territorio, realizados desde 1959 hasta la fecha, han logrado avances significativos en el modo de vida de la población. No obstante, persisten problemas que están incidiendo en el deterioro de sus condiciones de vida, En general se puede decir que han existido desbalances en cuanto a estructura por sexos, la población adulta ha comenzado a envejecer y se agrupan con mayor predominio en el asentamiento Playa Girón. El acceso a algunos servicios ha presentado mejorías pero continúan existiendo otros problemas vinculados a la transportación, calidad del agua, electricidad y salud.
