La influencia de instituciones y acontecimientos científicos en la evolución del pensamiento geográfico

Abstract

Instituições como as Universidades, a AGB, o IBGE, o IHGB, além dos eventos científicos ligados à área, tiveram grande influência sobre o pensamento geográfico brasileiro. A partir da Revolução de 30, quando se deu ênfase à modernização e ao conhecimento do território brasileiro, é que se pode falar em uma Geografia estruturada, científica e acadêmica, desenvolvida em instituições governamentais e em Universidades. A partir de então, surgiram revistas, boletins e livros científicos, especificamente geográficos, denotando uma grande influência dos geógrafos franceses. Nas décadas de quarenta e cinqüenta, as principais contribuições ao desenvolvimento do conhecimento geográfico estão contidas nas teses e contribuições ligadas à USP, nos artigos publicados na Revista Brasileira de Geografia e nos trabalhos esparsos conduzidos pela AGB em suas reuniões anuais. A partir da década de setenta houve uma grande mudança nos Congressos de Geógrafos, os quais alcançaram um nível diferente do que vinha sendo realizado nas décadas anteriores, sendo que com a reformulação do Estatuto da AGB teve início a realização de Encontros de Geógrafos. Até o final da década de setenta, os principais eventos de nível nacional, que reuniam os geógrafos, foram os Congressos Brasileiros de Geógrafos e Encontros Nacionais de Geógrafos. A partir da década de oitenta começaram a serem realizados outros eventos que tratam a Geografia por áreas, sendo que a Geografia Física ficou representada por dois grandes e importantes eventos: os Simpósios de Geografia Física Aplicada e os Encontros Nacionais de Estudos Sobre o Meio Ambiente.
