Los huertos escolares en el municipio Plaza de la Revolución. Una vía importante para el desarrollo de la educación ambiental

Abstract

En la actualidad la creación y fomento de los huertos escolares en los diferentes niveles de enseñanza ha tenido como resultado la formación de hábitos y habilidades en los niños y jóvenes hacia el cuidado y protección del entorno, además de crearse una cultura ambiental y alimentaria. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo ofrecer una visión de las características actuales y de la situación de los huertos escolares en el municipio capitalino Plaza de la Revolución, con vistas a determinar su papel en el desarrollo de la educación ambiental. Los resultados obtenidos permitieron confirmar diferencias territoriales en su comportamiento, así como la existencia de diferentes cultivos que han contribuido a satisfacer la alimentación de los escolares. Por otra parte, queda evidenciado la adquisición de responsabilidades por parte de maestros y alumnos ante el cuidado y protección del medio ambiente, lo que contribuye a su vez al alcance de una disciplina colectiva y social. Currently the creation and promotion of school gardens at different levels of education has resulted in the formation of habits and skills in children and young people towards the care and protection of the environment, as well as creating an environmental and food culture. The present work has as objective to offer a vision of the current characteristics and of the situation of the school gardens in the capital city Plaza de la Revolución, with a view to determining its role in the development of environmental education. The results obtained allowed to confirm territorial differences in their behavior, as well as the existence of different crops that have contributed to satisfy the school feeding. On the other hand, it is evidenced the acquisition of responsibilities by teachers and students before the care and protection of the environment, which in turn contributes to the reach of a collective and social discipline.
