Patrones regionales de distribución temporal de la precipitación generada por ciclones tropicales en Cuba estimada por el modelo WRF

Abstract

Los ciclones tropicales juegan un papel muy importante en la distribución de la lluvia en nuestro país. En la presente investigación se determinan patrones regionales de distribución temporal de la precipitación generada por estos organismos en Cuba estimada por el modelo atmosférico Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF); patrones que constituyen un elemento esencial para la anticipación y enfrentamiento de desastres hidrológicos de todo tipo, aportando una base técnica y teórica apropiada para la toma de decisiones en cada territorio. Es desarrollado entonces un procedimiento por medio del cual se obtienen los diagramas de masa y hietogramas regionales respectivos. La elección de los casos de estudio está determinada por la disponibilidad de datos de reanálisis de precipitación de las corridas del WRF del SPNOA realizadas en el Centro de Física de la Atmósfera (CFA) del Instituto de Meteorología. Por tanto, el período de análisis se limita a los años 2004-2012 dentro de los cuales se hallan los casos disponibles. Los diagramas de masa obtenidos se comparan con los propuestos por el Soil Conservation Service (SCS) del U. S. Department of Agriculture (1986) y los diagramas de masa característicos en función de la lámina máxima de Planos (1991). El análisis de la tendencia de estas curvas arrojó que: la regionalización tenida en cuenta en esta investigación da peso a la heterogeneidad espacial que manifiesta el sistema ciclónico tropical; y que las características físico-geográficas y otros elementos del paisaje determinan influencias significativas sobre la distribución temporal de la precipitación provocada por estos organismos. Tropical cyclones play a very important role in the distribution of rain in our country. In the present investigation, regional patterns of temporal distribution of the precipitation generated by these organisms in Cuba estimated by the weather model Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) are determined; patterns that constitute an essential element for the anticipation and confrontation of hydrological disasters of all kinds, providing an appropriate technical and theoretical basis for decision-making in each territory. A procedure is then developed by means of which the respective regional mass diagrams and hierograms are obtained. The choice of case studies is determined by the availability of precipitation re-analysis data from the WNF runs of the SPNOA conducted at the Center for Atmospheric Physics (CFA) of the Institute of Meteorology. Therefore, the period of analysis is limited to the years 2004-2012, within which cases are available. The mass diagrams obtained are compared with those proposed by the Soil Conservation Service (SCS) of the U. S. Department of Agriculture (1986) and the characteristic mass diagrams based on the maximum sheet of Planes (1991). The analysis of the trend of these curves showed that: the regionalization taken into account in this research gives weight to the spatial heterogeneity manifested by the tropical cyclonic system; and that the physical-geographical characteristics and other elements of the landscape determine significant influences on the temporal distribution of precipitation caused by these organisms.
