Particularidades de la estructura de la asociación ofiolítica de Cuba

Abstract

La asociación ofiolítica representa la antigua corteza oceánica y se encuentra actualmente emplazada entre el mio- y el eugeosinclinal. Esta asociación se prolonga en una extensión, de 1000 km y presenta un ancho que varía desde 3 hasta 30 km. Son característicos los contactos tectónicos de la asociación con las estructuras circundantes, así como los existentes entre los diferentes complejos que la componen. Los complejos estudiados son cuatro, representados por las ultramafitas serpentinizadas, cúmulos máficos, diques de diabasas, y basaltos toleíticos con sedimentos pelágicos intercalados. Se determinan las variaciones estructurales y petrológicas desde occidente hasta oriente en cada uno de los diferentes bloques en que afloran las ofiolitas en Cuba. The ophiolitic association represents the old oceanic crust and is currently located between mine and the eugenosynclinal. This association extends over an area of 1000 km and has a width that varies from 3 to 30 km. The tectonic contacts of the association with the surrounding structures are characteristic, as well as those existing between the different complexes that compose it. The complexes studied are four, represented by the serpentinized ultramafitas, mafic clusters, diabase dykes, and toleitic basalts with pelagic sediments interspersed. The structural and petrological variations are determined from the west to the east in each one of the different blocks in which the ophiolites appear in Cuba.
