Petrografía y geoquímica de las vulcanitas de la región Guáimaro - Las Tunas (Cuba)

Abstract

En la región estudiada se observan los productos volcánicos de un arco maduro, desde su etapa inicial en condiciones de mar profundo con efusión de lavas basálticas de carácter toleítico y subalcalino hasta la formación de ignimbritas y lavas ácidas en un ambiente subaéreo. Las edades de las distintas unidades litoestratigráficas comprenden desde el Albiano hasta el Campaniano. Se presentan las características petrográficas generales y los contenidos de K1 Ti, Hf, Cs, Rb, La, y Yb de los distintos tipos de rocas. Los resultados obtenidos confirman la existencia de un arco volcánico maduro (desde toleítas de bajo contenido de potasio hasta rocas ricas en este elemento); además, se manifiesta la vinculación genética de las rocas volcánicas y la participación de procesos de fusión parcial y de cristalización fraccionada. In the studied region the volcanic products of a mature arc are observed, from its initial stage in deep sea conditions with effusion of basaltic lavas of tolitic and subalkaline character to the formation of ignimbrites and acid lavas in a subaerial environment. The ages of the different lithostratigraphic units range from the Albian to the Campanian. The general petrographic characteristics and the contents of K1 Ti, Hf, Cs, Rb, La, and Yb of the different types of rocks are presented. The obtained results confirm the existence of a mature volcanic arc (from toleítas of low content of potassium to rocks rich in this element); In addition, the genetic link of the volcanic rocks and the participation of partial fusion and fractional crystallization processes are manifested.
