De un medio ambiente sano depende la vida de la civilización humana. Una correcta gestión ambiental debe ser tratada como una cuestión de supervivencia de nuestra especie. La inteligencia humana se probará por la actitud que se asuma ante la dimensión de los problemas que la actividad del hombre ha ocasionado al planeta, por lograr un falso desarrollo carente de integralidad y armonía con la naturaleza y el hombre. Los conceptos filosóficos y económicos que priman en la actualidad no responden a un desarrollo sostenible. Están en confrontación con poderosos capitales financieros y estos no garantizan la calidad de la vida y los derechos elementales de la raza humana por lo que deben cambiar radicalmente. Cuba, no es ajena a esa lucha que se libra a nivel mundial. En esta Tesis se realizó la propuesta de un Sistema de Contabilidad Ambiental para el Hotel Sol Palmera perteneciente a la Cadena Cubanacán. Se diseñó el sistema de una manera sencilla y práctica, lo más integrada posible a sus sistemas de funcionamiento actuales.De existir una conciencia y una voluntad política consecuente, las herramientas que se les ofrecen serán útiles para medir de forma cuantitativa y cualitativa, el cumplimiento de los objetivos propuestos para una gestión ambiental eficiente. Alertamos que el mayor problema de la eficiencia de la gestión ambiental no son sus métodos o herramientas científicas, el factor fundamental es y seguirá siendo la voluntad humana, el grado de conciencia y responsabilidad que se asuma ante el cuidado de la naturaleza, incluyendo como parte esencial de la misma, al propio hombre. No obstante, los métodos y las herramientas que estén disponibles facilitarán la tarea y la revestirá del tratamiento científico que se requiere, el cual se hace imprescindible para comprender las leyes que rigen el mundo que nos rodea. El presente trabajo brinda esa base conceptual y un grupo de herramientas bien definidas y que son factibles de perfeccionar para contribuir a la gestión ambiental de la entidad objeto de estudio. Of existing a conscience and a political consequent will, the tools that are offered will be they useful to measure in a quantitative and qualitative way, the execution the objectives of an environmental efficient management.
