La composición de la familia Asteraceae ha cambiado significativamente desde la publicación del quinto volumen y Suplemento de la "Flora de Cuba" (Alain, 1964, 1974). Según las modificaciones y adiciones actuales, que ha sufrido el tratamiento taxonómico de la familia, se entrega el listado actualizado de las especies cubanas de Asteraceae, el cual valida un total de 484 taxones infragenéricos, incluidos 72 cultivados, junto con sus sinónimos, que suman más de 450 taxones.The composition of the family Asteraceae has changed significatively since the publication of the fifth volume and Supplement of the ''Flora de Cuba" (Alain, 1964, 1974).
