Flora angiospérmica medicinal de la Provincia Camagüey, Cuba

Abstract

Se relacionan las plantas medicinales y las potencialmente medicinales que forman parte de la flora camagüeyana, tomando como base las colectas y los estudios florísticos más recientes realizados en la Provincia. Se analiza el endemismo y la distribución de los táxones que conforman la vegetación natural y la segetal; la primera, de acuerdo con las formaciones vegetales existentes, y la segunda, atendiendo a las áreas de cultivo que poseen especies útiles al hombre, incluidas las medicinales. Se confeccionó un esquema a escala 1 :500 000, que recoge esta información. Se refiere la aplicación de los diferentes táxones para el control de determinadas afecciones, según la medicina tradicional de Cuba y de otros países. Los resultados muestran, por una parte, que un gran número de especies posee utilidad fitoterapéutica, y por otra, que un alto número de dolencias pueden ser tratadas con una misma especie.The medicinal and potentially medicinal plants that form part of the flora of Camagüey are enumerated, according to collections and floristic studies recently conducted in the Province. The use of the different taxa for controlling certain diseases is pointed out in agreement with traditional medicine in Cuba and other countries. Results showed that there are numerous species with phytotherapeutic properties and that a great number of diseases could be treated with a single species. (sic)
