Abstract

A raíz del desarrollo del turístico en Cuba alcanzado a partir de los estudios realizados ACC/ICGC (1989), (1990 a, b, c), (1991), (1992), se emprendió el estudio integral de territorios insulares aun si explorar de gran riqueza biológica con crecientes intereses turísticos como los cayos pertenecientes al Archipiélago Jardines de la Reina. Y es por esto que más recientemente, CIEC (2000) sobre la base de una exhaustiva compilación integral de la información de la región, ofrece un estudio multidisciplinario de los valores naturales presentes en áreas naturales insulares y litorales de algunos cayos al Sur de la provincia de Ciego de Ávila, es decir, del sector centro-occidental del archipiélago.
