La gestión de los recursos naturales es el conjunto de técnicas científicas que permite una correcta administración de estos recursos y se basa en el conocimiento básico de los procesos naturales que tienen lugar. A partir del trabajo de investigación y monitoreo del CIEC, esta institución ha iniciado un grupo de acciones encaminadas a la gestión de los recursos naturales que se han centrado en: gestión de playas y dunas, planificación ambiental, gestión del buceo contemplativo y los arrecifes coralinos, gestión de pesquerías y gestión de áreas protegidas.
