Cueva Geda

Abstract

Pinar del Río, “capital del carso cubano”, una vez más sorprende con la viñalera caverna Geda, un paraíso para la espeleología y la paleontología cubanas, localizada exactamente en Sierra Guasasa. En el presente artículo se abordan las características de esta cueva estudiada desde 1998 por el Grupo de Espeleología y Deportes de Aventura (GEDA) , que nombra la caverna y que, en la tercera expedición realizada a este sistema descubre lo que constituye hasta hoy, el mayor hallazgo en Sierra Guasasa: un gran boquete que da paso a una galería de amplias magnitudes e incontables espeleotemas. Pinar del Rio, "capital of the Cuban carso", once again surprises with the viñalera cave Geda, a paradise for Cuban potholing and paleontology, located exactly in Sierra Guasasa. This article deals with the characteristics of this cave studied since 1998 by the Group of Speleology and Adventure Sports (GEDA), which names the cave and that the third expedition to this system discovers what constitutes until today, the Largest find in Sierra Guasasa: a large gap that gives way to a gallery of large magnitudes and countless speleothems.
