Distribución geográfica y estratigráfica de los moluscos y equinodermos del Terciario, en la antigua Provincia de Las Villas, Cuba

Abstract

Se ofrece una síntesis de los resultados obtenidos en el estudio de las macrofaunas fósiles del Terciario, colectadas en la antigua Provincia de Las Víllas. En el Paleógeno han sido determinadas únicamente algunas especies de equinoideos, en tanto que en el Mioceno se encontró una fauna más variada y abundante, consistente en diversas especies de equinoideos y moluscos. Se ofrece una relación de las especies encontradas en las diferentes formaciones estudiadas y se hacen consideraciones sobre la distribución estratigráfica y geográfica de los táxones mencionados. A synthesis of the results obtained in the study of fossil macrofauna of the Tertiary, collected in the former Province of Las Víllas, is offered. In the Paleogene, only some species of echinoids have been determined, while in the Miocene a more varied and abundant fauna was found, consisting of several species of echinoids and mollusks. A list of the species found in the different formations studied is offered and considerations are made about the stratigraphic and geographical distribution of the taxa mentioned.
