Nuevos datos sobre las estructuras diapíricas de Punta Alegre y Turiguanó, en la Provincia Ciego de Ávila

Abstract

En las Lomas de Punta Alegre y Turiguanó afloran brechas con matriz yesífera, originadas por el ascenso a la superficie de un cuerpo evaporítico mesozoico. No existen datos para precisar en qué momento se pusieron en movimiento las sales, pero es posible afirmar que ellas se derramaron en el fondo marino durante el Mioceno Inferior Tardío y alcanzaron la esfera de erosión durante el Pleistoceno. Se rechaza la hipótesis del origen sedimentario de las brechas con matriz yesífera. In the Lomas de Punta Alegre and Turiguanó, gaps with a gypsiferous matrix appear, originated by the rise to the surface of a mesozoic evaporite body. There are no data to determine when the salts were put in motion, but it is possible to affirm that they spilled on the seafloor during the Late Lower Miocene and reached the sphere of erosion during the Pleistocene. The hypothesis of the sedimentary origin of the gaps with gypsiferous matrix is rejected.
