Nuevos datos acerca de Phyllanthus pseudocicca (Phyllanthaceae)

Abstract

Phyllanthus es uno de los géneros más importantes dentro de las angiospermas y en Cuba está representado por 50 especies. Entre estas se encuentra. P. pseudocicca que presenta características ancestrales dentro del género. La clasificación infragenérica de este taxón no ha sido totalmente esclarecida y el mismo se ha incluido en varios subgéneros dentro de Phyllanthus debido a varias similitudes con otros representantes del género. Sin embargo, no existe una descripción morfológica completa de la especie, ya que no se conocen las características de sus frutos y semillas. Por tanto el objetivo de este trabajo es describir frutos y semillas, actualizar la nomenclatura y los datos de distribución de P. pseudocicca. Para ello, se revisaron 89 materiales de herbario y varias prospecciones de campo donde se encontraron individuos con frutos y se analizaron diferentes caracteres, del fruto y de las semillas. Para el trabajo nomenclatural se revisaron los protólogos y materiales tipos de los nombres de taxones referidos para Cuba y la actualización de la distribución geográfica se realizó a partir de lo registrado en los ejemplares de herbario consultados. Se tipifican dos nombres: Phyllanthus brevistipulus y Phyllanthus punctulatus. El fruto de P. pseudocicca es una cápsula subglobosa, de exocarpo carnoso, verde, lisa y con dos semillas por lóculo, de igual tamaño, pardas, trígonas, simétricas y verruculosas. Es un árbol endémico de Cuba Oriental típico de los bosques del sistema montañoso Nipe-Sagua-Baracoa, aunque sus poblaciones constan de pocos individuos.Phyllanthus is one of the largest genera within the angiosperms and in Cuba it is represented by 50 species. Therefore, the aim of this work is to describe fruits and seeds, update the nomenclature and distribution data of P. pseudoccica. For this, 89 herbarium materials and several field surveys were reviewed where individuals with fruits were found and different characters, from the fruit and seeds, were analyzed. For the nomenclatural work, the protologues and type materials of the names of the taxa referred to Cuba were reviewed and the geographical distribution was updated based on what was recorded in the consulted herbarium specimens. The tipification of two names were made: Phyllanthus brevistipulus y Phyllanthus punctulatus. The fruit of P. pseudocicca is a subglobose capsule, with a fleshy exocarp, green, smooth and with two seeds per loculum, of equal size, brown, trigonal, symmetrical and verruculose. It is an endemic tree of Eastern Cuba, typical of the forests of the Nipe-Sagua-Baracoa mountain system, although its populations consist of few individuals.(Traducción Automática)
